When choosing decks there are a few points to keep in mind.

The biggest difference between one deck and the next can be found in the dimensions and curves, so that should be your criteria when choosing a board. The basic breakdown goes like this:

• Dimensions
  A small board (7.4-7.63 approx.) caters to the more technical skater, because they are light and responsive. A larger board (7.88 and up) is more stable and stronger, making them ideal for the thrasher, or the "go-big" guy.
• Curves
  The curves, or concave, of a board give it the feel you're looking for. A relatively flat board offers a comfortable feel, but the lack of curvature means that they are not always the strongest choice. A board with more drastic concave may feel awkward to some, but the board will be strong and responsive.
• Graphics
  The graphic (images or colour scheme) of your deck will likely set the precident for your choice of other components, make sure you choose a design which you are happy with.
